From diagnostic workup of unclear findings, ruling out multicentricity for surgery planning to workflow-efficiency and patient-friendly examinations: radiologist and chair of the German Society of Radiology (DRG)’s Mamma Diagnostics committee, Prof Evelyn Wenkel, sees strong benefits in complementing the standard multimodal breast imaging portfolio with photon counting breast CT on the way to achieve more diagnostic confidence.
“In many cases of breast cancer, one could also perform a breast CT examination. It is a very precise modality; the system is very sensitive and you can be highly certain that there aren’t any further findings in the breast.“
