  • 40-49 yo woman
  • Palpable lump on the right side
  • Hamartoma on the right breast at 11 o’clock

Assessment: BI-RADS 2

Imaging details

Focus case: Functional imaging

MULTICENTRIC BREAST CANCER

PATIENT BACKGROUND

  • 70-79 yo woman with palpable lump in the right breast
  • Previous mammography had depicted a single mass only.
  • On sonography, the lesion was also round and circumscribed with cystic and solid components. Several other hypoechogenoic lesions with smooth and irregular margins were detected.

Breast CT scan was performed to confirm the suspicion for multicentric breast cancer.

Imaging details

  • Pre-contrast: Round mass lesion with hypodense (necrotic/liquid) centre. Images are suspicious for more than one lesion.
  • Post-contrast: The palpable mass enhances the contrast material inhomogeneously. Several other contrast enhancing masses with irregular and smooth margins in more than one quadrant of the breast are delineated.

Assessment: BI-RADS 5
